Journaling for Self-Care

There is no doubt that we are all faced with an unprecedented challenge. It is now more important than ever, that we take the necessary time to care for ourselves. However, being confined to our homes can make it difficult to understand our options. Last week I talked about the benefits and the ease of turning your bathroom into a luxurious spa retreat as a form of self-care. Today, we will explore another tried and true option, which is journaling. 

Journaling is a healthy way to spend your extra time by offering an escape to keep you from going stir crazy. This time of isolation provides the perfect opportunity for self-reflection. By journaling, you are reconnecting with yourself in writing down your thoughts and feelings. Additionally, it’s a great way to boost your self-confidence by reflecting on your achievements and reliving your most exciting moments. Effective journaling is also suggested to resolve arguments and misunderstandings. Some find it very therapeutic to write to others through letters and thank you notes, thus resolving any unsettled anger or unexpressed emotions. With most of us being separated from our loved ones, it is great to tell them how much they mean to us.

Overall, journaling awakens your mind and allows you to focus on the present moment as you actively engage with your thoughts, leading to mental and emotional healing.

Though some of us may not be able to leave our homes at the moment, that does not mean that we must miss out on a trip to the spa! You can transform your very own bathroom into a luxurious retreat. During this unprecedented time of stress, don’t skip out on the therapeutic effects of indulging in a warm bath. Hydrotherapy works wonders on the mind and body with the healing powers of hot water. 

Submerging yourself in warm water can relieve aches and pains by calming the nervous system and increasing oxygen. Have you ever compromised your wellbeing for someone or something else, such as a family member or job? Have you ever juggled so many tasks at once that you found yourself unable to complete them? Did these activities lead to irritability or even physical pain?

This is called “bad stress”. This type of stress is detrimental. Long-term stress has a significant impact on your mental and physical health, as well as your brain make up. However, self-care can be the best preventative medicine in some cases. A small investment in yourself now saves a great deal of time and effort correcting issues later in life. Did you know that simply having a peace of mind significantly impacts your overall health? Relaxation helps to prevent the risk of chronic stress and protects you from damaging your health in the long run.

Unveiling your serenity is at the heart of Aroma Reveal, and I’d like to explain why it is so essential to our wellbeing.

We may recognize self-care as a trend taking over social media. We often see lovely photos of beautifully drawn baths and face mask selfies, but do we really understand the importance and true acts of self-care?

In honor of our first post, we would like to offer you a brief explanation of the practice and benefits of self-care. It is the practice of taking action to preserve or improve your health. It is also an active role in protecting your well-being and happiness. Both are essential to our overall longevity and productivity. Some of the effects of self-care include productivity, a strengthened immune system, as well as an increase in energy and happiness. These are only some of the wonderful benefits that result from self-care.

Though these benefits sound ideal, we often worry that we do not have the time or budget for such activities. However, it does not have to be expensive or time consuming. Most importantly, do not treat self-care as a luxury or a reward, but rather as an essential.

Self-care practices are quite budget-friendly and efficient. Reading, journaling and aromatherapy, for example, are some popular options. These options are inexpensive and can be easily and efficiently used with items you already own. Simply taking fifteen minutes to read a blog can destress your brain and encourage positive thinking. With aromatherapy, you simply focus on scents to stimulate your mind and body. In fact, aromatherapy is one of the most therapeutic practices to partake in, and it acts as the inspiration for our subscription boxes.
