Journaling for Self-Care

There is no doubt that we are all faced with an unprecedented challenge. It is now more important than ever, that we take the necessary time to care for ourselves. However, being confined to our homes can make it difficult to understand our options. Last week I talked about the benefits and the ease of turning your bathroom into a luxurious spa retreat as a form of self-care. Today, we will explore another tried and true option, which is journaling. 

Journaling is a healthy way to spend your extra time by offering an escape to keep you from going stir crazy. This time of isolation provides the perfect opportunity for self-reflection. By journaling, you are reconnecting with yourself in writing down your thoughts and feelings. Additionally, it’s a great way to boost your self-confidence by reflecting on your achievements and reliving your most exciting moments. Effective journaling is also suggested to resolve arguments and misunderstandings. Some find it very therapeutic to write to others through letters and thank you notes, thus resolving any unsettled anger or unexpressed emotions. With most of us being separated from our loved ones, it is great to tell them how much they mean to us.

Overall, journaling awakens your mind and allows you to focus on the present moment as you actively engage with your thoughts, leading to mental and emotional healing.
